The Warrior 3 features 5 settings: 1, 15, 200, 800, and 2300 lumens. It charges magnetically with the included USB charger and can stay on from 201.5 minutes to 55 days depending on the setting you choose.

The Olight Warrior 3 Tactical Flashlight has settings from 1 lumen (compared to about 4 lumens for a nightlight) all the way up to 2300 lumens. For comparison, a car’s headlight projects 700 lumens on dim and 1200 lumens on bright. The Warrior 3 is almost twice the brightness of two sets of car headlights on bright!

Run Times for the Warrior 3 Tactical Flashlight

Olight knows you might need your flashlight to shine for a very long time, so it uses a step-down feature to keep from blowing through your battery charge too quickly. On the Turbo setting the light will stay at 2300 lumens for 2.5 minutes, then step down to 805 lumens for 160 minutes, then stay on at 253 lumens for another 39 minutes.

On the high setting, you get 800 lumens for 166 minutes and then 248 lumens for 39 minutes. The medium setting gives you 13 hours at 200 lumens. The low setting maintains 15 lumens for 130 hours. The moonlight setting maintains 1 lumen for 55 days. That’s almost 2 months!

Instructions for the Warrior 3 Tactical Flashlight

My only complaint with Olight’s products is that the instructions are printed in extremely small font in order to squeeze the whole story in 20 languages onto one map-folded insert. In order for my aging eyes to do this review, I used the camera app on my phone to zoom in on each section.

The instructions do include photos of the various parts of the flashlight along with icons indicating the specifications, which I have transcribed for you into the two tables above.

If you can’t read the printed information you can go to the listing on Olight’s website and learn more about the Warrior 3.

The Holster for the Warrior 3 Tactical Flashlight

Olight included its standard holster with the Warrior 3. Made of a durable nylon, it features a buckle closure rather than hook and loop so you don’t have to worry about wearing out the hook and loop tape. The back of the holster features a snappable strap that you can attach to your belt loop and a plastic ring for hanging from a lanyard.

The light fits snugly in the holster and is not likely to fall out because the buckle makes an audible snap when secured. Grommets at the top and bottom provide drainage just in case your light falls in the water.

Olight’s Reputation

Olight has followers as enthusiastic as any I’ve ever seen. They make high-quality, innovative, and durable lights. Olight frequently has flash sales, and you can visit our coupon page to find out if they are having one now. Grab the one you want, because they tend to sell out.

Charging the Warrior 3 Tactical Flashlight

Olight’s magnetic charging process is quick and easy. Attach the blue circular magnet to the charging plate on the tail cap of the flashlight and plug in the charger.

The Olight Warrior 3 charges magnetically with a USB port

The charger plugs into a USB outlet, or you can provide your own adapter and plug it into the normal wall outlet. Olight reports that a full charge takes about 5 and a half hours, or longer if you are using a USB source such as your computer.

The battery indicator on the side switch lights up when you hit the switch. Four lights indicate a full charge. When it needs a charge, the last light will flash red as a reminder. A single red indicator means that it is out of power.

The Case

A knurled barrel provides extra traction for the Warrior 3

The aluminum alloy case is solidly built. The tail switch twists off and has a long enough twist that you are not likely to unscrew it accidentally.

The tail switch presses easily and clicks solidly to let you know that you have turned the light on or off. The knurled body helps you maintain your grip when your hands are cold or wet.

The head of the flashlight is squared off to prevent rolling if you lay it down on an uneven surface.

The bulb is protected within a spiked recess so you won’t be likely to crack it if you drop it bulb-down. The Olight logo is printed on one side of the head of the light, with WARRIOR 3 and the serial number on the other side.

The Clip

In addition to carrying your flashlight in the holster, you also have the option of mounting it with a clip. The arms of the clip encircle the body of the light and the clip itself has a double fold so that you can attach it to your pocket with an upward or downward motion.

Using the Light

The thumb switch is on the side of the light’s head and consists of a soft pressure-sensitive switch surrounded by a ring of indicator lights. The small row of green dots on the left tells you the setting you have chosen. The green lights on the right tell you how much power you have left.

Press the button once for the low setting. Hold the button to cycle through low, medium, and high. Double click for the Turbo setting and triple click for the strobe light. I recommend turning the light away from your face and shielding it with your hand for the first few times because these settings are bright enough to disorient you, especially the strobe setting.

We tested the Warrior 3 in daylight, a dark hallway, and outside on our pistol range after dark. See the video above to watch Chris go through all the settings. The 1 lumen barely showed up on the video because it is just enough to allow you to find the light in the dark. The turbo setting, on the other hand, lit up the night well enough to see the berm at the back of the range roughly 35 yards from where we were standing.

The strobe light is designed to call attention to someone who needs help or to disorient someone who is attacking you. Be careful with strobe lights because some people are prone to seizures and migraines when looking at a strobe light.

The tail switch at the back of the light allows you to go directly to the high setting and the low setting with a touch. The side switch near the head of the light allows you to cycle through high, medium, and low by holding the switch until you reach your desired brightness.

Double click the side switch to access the extremely bright turbo setting. Triple click to access the strobe setting.

The E-WM25 Mount (Sold Separately)

The E-WM25 Weapon Mount pairs nicely with the Warrior 3

The Warrior 3 can be mounted on an AR-15 or any rifle or shotgun with a Picatinny rail using the E-WM25 mount (sold separately). The traditional flashlight mount clips onto the rail and the flashlight goes through the loop. A rubberized material on the inside of the loop holds the light in place. Textured feet next to the loop protect the finish of your light. Olight sends extra feet and tape pieces so that you can replace the feet if needed.

To open the loop, pull the knob and turn it counterclockwise. Remove the battery cap from the flashlight to decrease its diameter for insertion, and then when you replace the battery cap the extra width holds it in place.

Helpful hint: if you put the battery back in and it won’t turn on, you probably have the battery backward.

To mount the light for use as a weapon light, attach it to the rail of your rifle or shotgun. Pull out the knob and then turn it clockwise to tighten it. The gears inside the mount lock into place once you let go of the knob.

Other weapon lights mount too closely to the barrel of the gun, and the beam of the light is interrupted by the shape of the muzzle brake. Olight’s mount provides a small offset that raises the flashlight away from the barrel just enough to clear the light for an uninterrupted beam.

The sRod-7 Switch (Sold Separately)

The sRod-7 Magnetic Switch is compatible with the Olight Warrior 3

The switch attaches to the light magnetically at the tail cap just like the magnetic charger. Push it forward to get a solid attachment that won’t come off when you use the gun. The underside of the switch connects to the pic rail with serrations that line up with the teeth of the pic rail.
